This series is comprised of five volumes, exploring the key and distinguishing features of Beijing Opera: The Roles of Beijing Opera, Facial Painting, Accessories, Costumes and Stage Props and Instruments. Using illustrations and fun-filled paintings, each chapter combines knowledge and artistry to provide an easy guide to the key characters, stories and art of Beijing Opera.

 An Ping, is a senior reporter and graduate of the Chinese Ministry of Culture’s “Thousand Talents Program” for the art of opera.  Fascinated with Beijing Opera she has made a career of studying and researching the art of Beijing Opera, focusing on the organisation and promotion of Beijing Opera in schools.  She has interviewed the director of the Palace Museum, Shan Jixiang, and well-known Beijing Opera artists Yu Kuizhi and Hu Wenge, as well as organising nearly 400 Beijing Opera performances in primary and secondary schools across China.
